Sweltering Summer

Gosh we had a little bit of a break from the heat this summer but it is coming back big time starting tomorrow and continuing for the foreseeable future. I don't handle the heat well at all and then my body starts reacting and life just gets miserable!!! When it is hot, I scrap because I can sit in front of my fan and "chill" with a class of sweet tea or a soda :-) So, here are some things to share. . . Until next time. . .

Heat Advisory

My goodness, but it has been HOT here!!! We have been under a heat advisory for days now, but hopefully we will get some relief over the next few days since there are storms in the forecast. In addition to the heat, it has been so dry. . .we had over 4 inches of rain a little over a week ago and the sump pump didn't discharge once - the rain just soaked into the ground!!! And even with that, our grass is still on the brown side!!! Since it has been hot, I've been busy, so here goes. . . It has been too hot to keep up with housework, so that is my goal today!!! Until next time. . .

It's Hot, Bob!!!

One of the local car dealerships started using the catchphrase "It's Hot, Bob" a few years ago and my goodness, when you hear that first commercial on the radio you know that it is officially summer!!! The phrase reminds me of the "Where's the beef" phrase. The "It's Hot, Bob" has taken on a life of its own. I've heard people from the next state over say it randomly on the soccer field so I know they have driven through this area and heard that commercial!!! It has been hot, but we've had over 4-inches of rain last weekend. The odd thing is with all that rain, our sump pump never discharged once. . .it has been so dry that all that water just soaked into the ground. Our ditches are dry, I don't think I've ever seen this before. Just about 45 minutes south of us they had over 8-inches of rain and one of my farmer friends had 2 trees uprooted in his yard and lost the roof on his barn because of the high winds. He said there was a mile of power poles snapped off and all of their corn was laying in the fields. I think as early as it is in the season that corn will straighten up, but hope it does so quickly or it could start to rot and that wouldn't be good at all!!!

I've been recovering from a busy weekend so my scrapping time has been limited again this week but here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using And, with that I am outta here to get my errands done while it is still bearable outside. Then I'm making cold salads for the weekend heatwave!!! Until next time. . .

June Juggles!!!

This was one of those busy weekends and I have to admit I'm running on fumes today!!! Not on to more fun, but am I ready for it??? While it has been busy, my scrapping time is somewhat diminished at the moment, but I look for that to pick up here pretty quickly!!! My plans for this week - start working on 2019 calendars!!! But in the meantime, here's what I have. . . Created using Well, looks like I keep forgetting to publish these posts. . .oops!!! Until next time. . .

Quiet Week

Well, this has been a quiet week after a messy weekend. This past weekend was our scheduled trip to a huge amusement park. . .each year we take both families so the cousins (10 years old and under) can spend a day playing together and having fun. Our daughter and her family came to our house Friday and Saturday morning we piled into the SUV for the trip. IT was a nice sunny day until we rounded the corner about a mile from the park and there was the biggest shelf cloud I think I have ever seen. A quick look at radar confirmed there was "radar redness" as far as we could see. We pulled into the McDonalds outside the park and evaluated the situation. We decided to go to our daughter's house which is very close to the park and maybe wait it out. Three hours later the rides were still closed so we decided to do this whole thing a different weekend and went to the Children's Museum instead. I know the kiddos were disappointed but I'd rather have a full day of fun instead of a half day of trying to cram in a lot of fun stuff.

This weekend, both of our girls and their families will be here for a special dance recital. Both of my girls took dance at the local studio and this year is the 30th anniversary of ownership for their teacher. The alumni will be back this year for a group dance. I know that is going to be emotional and I'm kind of excited for the grandkids to see their Moms on stage!!! But it is going to be a FULL HOUSE!!! I'm going to be busy planning fun things to do and getting food together!!!

So, I have been scrapping a little bit so here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using And, with that I am outta here to go get a start on a super busy weekend!!! Until next time. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using
