Thankful For Thanksgiving

This is my favorite holiday of the year. . .while it will only be my husband and I this year, I still plan on fixing a mini feast so preparations will be underway for that later today. Also this year, since there won't be people here, I may actually get to do a little digital Black Friday shopping!!! But before that happens, I want to get a start on the few things I've made this week so here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using With the holiday, it was a short week so that is a wrap for me this week!!! Until next time. . .

Different November

This month is so different from all the other Novembers before. This will be the first Thanksgiving that I haven't had people around to enjoy. . .this year is it just the two of us. Typically by now I'm deep into cleaning and planning and prepping. Instead, I am debating on whether or not to put up Christmas decorations and coming to the realization there will not be a turkey on our table come Thursday. Here, while we are not under a mandatory lockdown, for all intents and purposes that is what is in effect starting today. No gatherings of more than 25 people, no restaurants, 25% capacity at stores. I'm not sure how churches are managing to have services on Sunday. . .the situation is getting worse by the day here. In our little county, we had 8 deaths reported yesterday and are well over 100 at this point. While most of the deaths have been the elderly, increasingly the age is going down. . .there have been several in their 50's this week and scattered reports of folks in their 30's. This is serious folks!!! Most of us are giving up so much so folks can defy orders and continue to congregate, shun masks, and just be selfish individuals. I have grandkids I haven't seen since this mess started. . .I have grandkids that have missed orchestra concerts, an entire season of swim team, baseball and soccer, and not only a recital but Nutcracker performances that will be silenced for the first time in several decades. If people would just stop politicizing this disease and been smart and considerate, I wonder if it would have come to this. . .you people have taken so much from so many!!!

And, if that weren't enough, typically by this time in November, we would have had our first snow. Instead, it has been in the 60's here.

I am still working hard on scrapbooks and calendars for Christmas so I don't have as much as usual to share with you but here goes. . .

Shiver Me Timbers!!!

"Shiver Me Timbers" that is something my Dad would say on that first cold morning of winter so it is appropriate this morning!!!It was pretty nice yesterday although a tad chilly, this morning we are having freezing rain!!! That is a sure sign that winter is upon us. . .and once again, I missed a trip through the country to enjoy the fall colors. When the colors were at their peak, it was dull and grey. . .not ideal weather for capturing fall colors!!! I needed a sunny day for that. . .oh well, there is always next year :-) I thought that day trip would be a great way to get out and enjoy the time away from the house during a pandemic. In our area, things are not good. I live in a realatively small county, but since the beginning of November we have had 22 COVID deaths ande non of those are from a long term care facility. The scary part is we knew a 30-year old woman without any underlying conditions who passed one week after testing positive for the virus. She was heathly before that and took all the precautions. Our daughter's office has quite a few cases so that is of concern at the moment.

I have been focusing on Christmas gifts, but I do have a few pages to share with you this week so here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using And, that is a wrap for me this week!!! Until next time. . .

Notable November

Well, this November has certainly been notable and it is still very early!!! Let's see, where do I start. . .with the good stuff!!! Goodness, it is November and for the past two days I have been able to have the windows open!!! What makes that notable is in years past by now, we have had our first measurable snow!!! I do fear that next week could be problematic. . .the temperature is supposed to nose-dive midweek and I fear that will mean storms!!! Oh, the next "thing" yesterday in the middle of the afternoon my husband was out in the backyard doing yardwork. All of a sudden he heard a commotion and looked up. . .there was a big buck running past him!!! Now, we live next to a wooded state park so deer in an of themselves is not an unusual thing. I have even had deer run across the street in front of me. But, yesterday was the earliest a deer has been in our yard and the last time I recall seeing a buck was over 15 years ago!!! The next thing isn't a good thing. . .last week, our little county had over 600 new COVID cases and 8 deaths!!! Our local school went virtual less than 2 hours after the 50-something school board president died of the virus. We have had new mitigation restrictions put in place, but people are defying them like crazy. That's fine, I really don't care what you do to yourself, but for those of us who would not have a good outcome, have a little respect. I'm about to decide if folks don't respect me, I have no respect for them. I am disheartened how self-centered people truly are. Then, last but not least is this whole election mess. . .geeze!!! I will be so glad when the lies are over. . .again, I am so disheartened how folks are willing to tolerate behavior I'm sure they wouldn't allow from their own children. . .

With all the turmoil this week, I've done a little scrapping, but I've been focused on Christmas gifts. Here's what I have to share this week. . .

Created using Created using Created using WOW, this really was a short week!!! And with that I am outta here to work on Christmas stuff!!! Until next time. . .

Nifty November

Normally this would be my favorite month of the entire year!!! It is the month when it gets colder (it is going to be in the 70's here this week), we typically have our first snow (about 5 miles north of me that happened last week in October), Christmas shopping is in full swing (I'm nearly done with that this year), and it is Thanksgiving when our girls come for a visit (that has been canceled this year). So, this year, 2020, I'm just looking to get through the year hoping that things start to make a change for the better. . .I can honestly say I can't handle much more of 2020!!!

With the beginning of a new month, I have several things to share with you. . .I do hope within the next couple of weeks to have my calendars and scrapbooks for Christmas done and then I can just have a little more fun "playing". But, until then, here is what I have. . . Created using Created using Created using
