November - Week 05

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Mine was good. . .one daughter came home for Thanksgiving and it was good visiting with her and her family. I managed to pull of a Thanksgiving feast and for the first time I decided to enlist the use of crockpots so I could pace myself and that worked out better than I had imagined. I could get the potatoes done ahead of time and I wasn't rushing around at the last minute to get stuff on the table. Today is Black Friday and I have some digital shopping to do so I'm kinda looking forward to that. But before I get into some "me time", I'll share what I have done for the week so here goes. . . November - Week 04

Well, here it is the week before Thanksgiving and I still don't have firm plans for the holiday!!! Between the weather and sickness, who knows what Thursday will be like. All I can do is trudge ahead!!! I'm on countdown mode. . .have most of the fixings for the feast, just need to run out this morning and get some produce then that's done. We cleaned and rearranged the sunroom for the Christmas tree on Wednesday which caused the cat considerable confusion!!! Yesterday we had snow. . .nothing stuck since it was 60-degrees the day before but nonetheless it was definitely a wakeup call!!! In light of the snow and much colder temperatures I did some online Christmas shopping last night. . .now I feel like I just need to go out and pick up some gift cards and I'm good with calling that a "wrap" LOL!!! This weekend my husband has Thanksgiving at his Mom's house. . .I sit out holidays there, entirely TOO stressful for me!!! For a number of years I fixed the entire feast for both Thanksgiving and Christast and the only "thank yous" that came were from my husband and girls. . .not a single person in his family said thank you. Now they have the feast catered by a local mom and pop grocery store complete with instant potatoes and canned gravy. It is crazy, wack-a-doo how entitled that group is. . .his 90-something Mom can walk in the room and not a single person will get up and offer her their seat and she tolerates it!!! Then since I am a complete outsider as are my girls we aren't treated very kindly so I have way more fun watching mindless movies while he is gone. Having said that I will make a few salads that he can take just because he rather enjoys those salads :-) Since the holidays have taken my primary focus, I don't have a lot to share today but did manage to get a couple of things done so here goes. . . November - Week 02 & 03

WOW, what a week. . .the good news is we finally got some very much needed rain!!! I have to say I wasn't mad about that in the least!!! So hard to believe there are only 2 months left in this year!!! I really need to get busy thinking about Christmas gifts, but with the weather being so wonky here I just can't even get into the mood for Thanksgiving much less Christmas!!!
