Merry Christmas!!!

It is finally here!!! Christmas Day!!! While this year is quite different from years before, I hope you find a way to make the most of this wonderful day!!! This year for the first time ever, I won't be with the girls and their families over the holidays. While our celebration was always closer to New Years, I'm feeling a slight bit of sadness, but last night I started thinking. This may be the chance for the girls to start traditions of their own and that makes me happy. They have always come here at some point over the holiday to visit and this year that can't happen. . .it is double hard for me because our oldest has a birthday tomorrow too. Needless to say, my season has been filled with nostaligia and I can't say that has been a bad thing. We have delivered all gifts and that was quite fun. . .we made an adventure of driving and purposefully staying away from people. We even packed a lunch and ate a sandwich from the cooler while parked at a rest area. It was actually quite fun considering I haven't been out to eat since this whole thing started!!! I do have to admit, this has made me find joy in the little things of life and that too has not been a bad thing.

With the holiday, I don't have a lot to share so this will be short and sweet. . .so here goes Created using And, with that I am outta here. . .I'm going to go make some cinnamon rolls, fix the dinner rolls for our mini feast today. Then I'm going to get Mom's pan out to cook that ham. I have used that pan every year since she passed away. . .kind of brings her spirit into the holidays. So, until next time, enjoy your holiday season and make the best of whatever situation you find yourself in. . .

Travel Time

We are fast approaching the few days when we will be traveling to drop off Christmas goodies. This year will be different!!! First of all, we are dropping stuff of. . .normally the girls and their families come here for a post-holiday gathering. That has been canceled this year. Secondly, drop-off is the appropriate word because we are literally going to drive a couple of hours one way to put stuff at the end of their sidewalks. . .we will get back in the SUV, wave and drive away!!! And, that is that. . .no festivities this year unless there is a Zoom gathering later. But, here's hoping that next year things will be back to semi-normal, although I'm not sure when all of us will get the vaccine. We have to be very careful because two of us have problematic immune systems. Anyway, I am all done with Christmas stuff. . .I am going to fix a small feast for just the two of us and I have ingredients to get for one dish but I'll take advantage of curbside pickup and get that with my regular groceries this week. So, with things quiet now, I've managed to scrap a little so here goes. . .

The Bustle Begins!!!

For me, the holiday bustle has begun!!! And, most of it doesn't even have anything to do with the holidays since they will be more low-key this year. Just so many odds and ends that need to get done this time of year. . .I just hope I can keep my head on straight and my to-do list in proper order!!!

Before I delve into that stuff, I have a few things to share with you so here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using And I think that is a wrap (pun intended) for me today!!! I have lots of odds and ends to do so until next time. . .

Decidedly December

Well, in the year of 2020, we have finally made it to December!!! Sure hope that next year is better than this year has been. But, having said that, December is a super busy month around here. Even without those Nutcracker performances and Christmas programs, it seems we have even MORE to do this year!!! We won't be having a family Christmas. . .going to give up one Christmas in the hopes of many more to come. So, instead of gathering here, we are going to be taking "drop and run" trips to both of our daughters and my MIL to drop off the presents at the end of their driveways!!! Also our immediate family has not one, not two but three of the four birthdays are this month!!! We start with mine next week, then within 10 days of Christmas both girls have their birthdays!!! Now, keep in mind, they were supposed to get here in late January and mid February, but they both liked the holidays so much they decided to make early appearances!!! I've been busy trying to get things wrapped up early and now I'm just waiting on those orders to show up. I did shop early so I anticipate that things will get here sometime this week or next, then I'll take a day to wrap everything up and plan our trips!!! I have to admit I'm kind of excited about the trips because we don't leave the house for much these days. Today was the first time in two weeks I've been to the grocery store!!! However that one trip is a 5 hour drive and we try hard to avoid people so stopping is a minimum - we even pack a lunch to eat in the SUV at a rest area. In fact, that rest area will be our only stop. . .I was pleasantly surprised that they have staff there wiping down everything after a person touches a surface. . .very diligent and it made me feel safe. Having said that, I count people going in and out and only go in once I think the coast is clear, I wear my mask and vinyl gloves and use sanitizer so look out COVID!!! I have a few things to share today so here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using Created using WOW!!! I have to say I have been busier than I thought!!! It feels good though to be scrapping without a deadline hovering over my head!!! So that is a wrap for me this week. . .now I'm off to finish cleaning out that junk closet and sorting through photos to hand down to my girls!!! Until next time. . .

Thankful For Thanksgiving

This is my favorite holiday of the year. . .while it will only be my husband and I this year, I still plan on fixing a mini feast so preparations will be underway for that later today. Also this year, since there won't be people here, I may actually get to do a little digital Black Friday shopping!!! But before that happens, I want to get a start on the few things I've made this week so here goes. . . Created using Created using Created using Created using With the holiday, it was a short week so that is a wrap for me this week!!! Until next time. . .

Different November

This month is so different from all the other Novembers before. This will be the first Thanksgiving that I haven't had people around to enjoy. . .this year is it just the two of us. Typically by now I'm deep into cleaning and planning and prepping. Instead, I am debating on whether or not to put up Christmas decorations and coming to the realization there will not be a turkey on our table come Thursday. Here, while we are not under a mandatory lockdown, for all intents and purposes that is what is in effect starting today. No gatherings of more than 25 people, no restaurants, 25% capacity at stores. I'm not sure how churches are managing to have services on Sunday. . .the situation is getting worse by the day here. In our little county, we had 8 deaths reported yesterday and are well over 100 at this point. While most of the deaths have been the elderly, increasingly the age is going down. . .there have been several in their 50's this week and scattered reports of folks in their 30's. This is serious folks!!! Most of us are giving up so much so folks can defy orders and continue to congregate, shun masks, and just be selfish individuals. I have grandkids I haven't seen since this mess started. . .I have grandkids that have missed orchestra concerts, an entire season of swim team, baseball and soccer, and not only a recital but Nutcracker performances that will be silenced for the first time in several decades. If people would just stop politicizing this disease and been smart and considerate, I wonder if it would have come to this. . .you people have taken so much from so many!!!

And, if that weren't enough, typically by this time in November, we would have had our first snow. Instead, it has been in the 60's here.

I am still working hard on scrapbooks and calendars for Christmas so I don't have as much as usual to share with you but here goes. . .

Created using Created using Created using Told you this was a short list :-) And with that I am outta here to go work on those scrapbooks!!! Until next time. . .
