This weekend is going to be special in so many ways. . .All week I've been having flashbacks to the 9/11 from 20 years ago. I can remember exactly what I was doing when I heard about the first airplane. That was surely an accident right, then the second plane hit. There was no question we were under attack. . .when the first tower fell, I remember feeling the breath being sucked from my body. . .one of my co-workers was supposed to fly out of Newark that morning. Nobody could get in touch with him, so it was incredibly tense. We found out the next day that he took an earlier flight and when things happened, his flight landed and he ended up having to drive the rest of the way home, thank goodness!!! Then, fastforward exactly 8 years later, and 9/11 would be the day our youngest granddaughter was born. I'm not sure she realizes the enormity of loss associated with her birthday, but one day she and I will no doubt have a conversation. . .I was born on an anniversary of Pearl Harbor, another defining moment in our country's history.
I am looking forward to this weekend. Our granddaughter has always loved taking trips to the apple orchard for her birthday, but again this year, she is going to have to sit this one out. Truth be told, she has probably just about aged out of the activities there, but she holds tradition in high regards. Instead, we are going to make a "run" to the orchard to pick up some goodies that she can have. They have curbside pickup so that will work out well. Then we will drop those things off at their house and spend a bit of time with the birthday girl. I'm not sure how she will be feeling because her day is going to be busy before we get there. First, she is getting her first COVID vaccine. . .that is one thing that she wanted for her birthday. She is so aware that her Mom is at risk and wants to do her part to keep her safe. Then, she has dance class. . .and will get to eat in town before she comes home.
It has been busy here, but I have managed to get a few pages scrapped so here goes. . .
