Busy Times!!!

Another super busy couple of days on the horizon. . .it was nearly 80 degrees yesterday which is entirely too warm for this time of year!!! Today we have rain in the forecast and the temperature is supposed to be more "seasonal" tomorrow. But, to be honest, it is still going to be warmer than it normally is around here. I have to admit I just hope that we have rain and no storms!!!

Time Flies!!!

I have to admit I am feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. . .so much to do and so little time!!! Today is the day to keep my head down and crank out the work!!! Cleaning, groceries, Christmas gifts, planning. . .so much to do!!!

YIKES!!!

OMG, it just occurred to me this week that Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks!!! And I'm pretty sure that also means that Christmas at my MIL's will be in 5 weeks!!! I simply HAVE to finish those calendars and scrapbooks this week!!! Not to mention I have to clean the house, plan our Thanksgiving AND deal with Thanksgiving at my MIL's house!!! So much to do and I feel so little time. For the first time in forever, I missed a good friend's birthday. . .geeze!!! So, for the next few days, I may be laying low just to get some stuff done!!!

A New Day

I have to admit, yesterday was a pretty dark day for me. . .but after my radio station was off the air for 4+ hours the first song that played was Tim McGraw's Humble and Kind and it made me realize that I can't control anything beyond my own mind. I have a sense of right and wrong and based on conversations I had with my girls yesterday, they have that same sense. Can't do much about things now. . .just hope there isn't serious buyers' remorse in a couple of months.

Things were also probably darker because I just did not feel good. . .had a splitting headache that actually made me sick at my stomach. Thought it was nerves until I realized I also had a fever too. . .I slept a long time last night and feel a bit better today. My goals today are pretty lofty - I have pages to share with you, laundry to do, plants to move and Christmas presents to work on. My ultimate goal is to have my 2017 calendars done by the end of next week and to have the scrapbook pages pulled together. Sure would like to get that Shutterfly order in early this year!!! But those goals are lofty :-)

Sunny Saturday

This was one of those sunny Saturdays that you just relish in the fall. The time changes this weekend and can't say I enjoy that. . .the extra hour of sleep is nice but I don't like how dark it gets so early. . .they days of grilling out after work are over. But then again, normally we would be looking for our first snow this week and based on the forecast I don't see that happening for a while!!! Really strange year for weather. . .

Wicked Weather

I'm not gonna lie, last night was just a little scary!!! All day yesterday I have a "feeling". . .it is entirely too hot for this time of year!!! And there was rain in the forecast - rain mind you, not storms!!! After all, it is supposed to be a bit cooler today, but not drastically cooler. I was watching the local news round 4:30 and saw a thunderstorm warning for the area where my daughter lives. I started having flashbacks to the day 3 years ago in November when her and her family were grocery shopping in town. . .she had a toddler at the time. Warnings were issued and they moved everyone to the back of the store. . .the mothers and children were crammed into the small office and told to get under the furniture. . .the fathers were left in the back of the store. By the time they were allowed to leave the parking lot had carts everywhere, the huge light poles had snapped or twisted and most cars had lost windshields. . .thankfully their car was spared any damage. On their way back home, there were roads closed and it took well over 1-1/2 hours to make the 1/2 hour drive. About 20 minutes from their house there had been a devastating tornado. So, needless to say, I was nervous all day yesterday. Then around 5:30, a tornado warning was issued for the area just north of us. . .the TV station was showing radar constantly and I noticed a decided "hook" about 5 miles from my house!!! The sky was wicked. . .then suddenly, the talk went from the area north of us to the area just west of us. That is when every siren started going off. . .a tornado had been spotted aloft. I went downstairs to wait it out. . .as I was sitting in the hallway, I heard a "whoosh" and could tell the wind had picked up and things were hitting the house. And as suddenly as it started it was over. . .went back upstairs and they were reporting there was rotation less than a mile from my house. There was no damage but there is no doubt in my mind that went over my house. . .All of this is just part of living in the Midwest. But goodness, I sure do wish the temperatures were closer to normal for this time of year!!! We should be anticipating our first snowfall by now, but the high today is going to be in the 70's!!! Crazy weather!!! So not sure what this means for the upcoming winter. . .it is either going to drastically warm or it is going to be really bad!!!

You Have To Be Kidding Me!!!

Seriously, it is November 1st and I am sitting here in shorts!!! Normally by now we have had our "killing" frost and my summer clothes have been replaced by winter wear. . .not this year!!! It is 81-degrees at the moment which is entirely too hot!!! When we first moved here nearly 40 years ago we could expect our first snowfall by the 7th of November. . .based on the forecast not gonna happen this year!!! I don't know if I should expect a harsh winter or if I need to stock up on sunscreen before the stuff is put away for the season. . .after all, the store where I shop discontinued celery seed in the spice aisle because someone thought it was a seasonal item in the gardening department!!!
