Special Day

This day after Christmas is a special day to me. . .it is the day our oldest daughter arrived!!! Albeit a month early, I treasure the day I met her. She has become a wonderful woman, a magnificent mother and a cherished wife.

It was quiet here yesterday, our festivities will be New Years Eve so I am really looking forward to that!!!

Finally Friday

It is finally Friday and the only thing I need to stress out about today is whether or not those calendars will arrive in time for the Christmas gathering at my mother-in-law's house. I NEED that calendar for her!!! Her scrapbook arrived yesterday so that is ready for her. . .wonder if she has even LOOKED at the scrapbook from last year??? The scrapbooks for my girls are scheduled to arrive tomorrow which is in plenty of time for our gathering on New Years Eve. My granddaughter actually took the book I did for her Mom last year and put it on HER bookshelf. . .she calls it "The Story Of My Life". . .pretty clever for a pre-schooler!!!

And can I just say that this morning is the first time we have seen the sunshine since the end of November!!! I can honestly say my sinuses feel so much better today. . .it is cold and I am OK with that, but the sunshine just lifts my spirits sssssoooo much!!! I think I have finally moved on from holiday pages. . .so how about some pages focusing on my childhood???

Snowy Day?

Well, yesterday I saw a very brief shadow outside. . .it lasted all of about 1-1/2 minutes, but that is the first small sign of sunshine since the 30th of November!!! It was very short-lived, and there is snow heading this way today!!! I did get fixings for soup yesterday, but totally forgot toilet paper!!! If there is one thing you do NOT want to forget it is that!!! Can't remember the last time we actually ran out since I always have a reserve in the closet!!!

My scrapping time is starting to slow down a bit with all of the holiday hoopla. Today I have to do mundane tasks like laundry, cleaning, taking out the trash and wrapping the last of the gifts!!! I would REALLY like to do that when it is snowing. . .I think that would put me in the mood to do holiday stuff!!! The Christmas cards went out yesterday. Honestly, I don't know why I send cards to some of these folks. . .there are some who just NEVER send cards even to family!!! Seems like that particular person is bitter about something in life and it shows at every family gathering. . .I kind of feel sorry for her.

But, I digress and here is the page I just posted!!!

The Gloom Continues

In this area, we have not seen the sun since the day after Thanksgiving!!! This is really getting old at this point. . .I swear if the sun would come out I would finally knock this last remnants of flu out of my system!!! This weekend we had a surprise visit from our daughter and granddaughter. We were going to go eat at the Pancake and Sausage Breakfast and when we pulled up, my granddaughter said "This isn't the Jesus church, this is the eating church!!!" Now that I think about it, in her mind that is right. She is never here on Sunday to go to church with us. . .she is always back home so she can go to her Sunday School. . .the only time she goes to our church is to EAT!!! Later in the afternoon, we took her to Kreckels, a local hamburger joint that has the absolute BEST burgers EVER!!! It was like a flashback. . .when her Mom was little, we would stop there for lunch after every single Saturday dance class. . .in my mind, this place was so much better for kids than McDonalds and the happy meals. Everything here is done fresh by hand. Oh my goodness, she ate and ate and ate!!! Then, they have the yummiest custard there, so she got a small bowl. . .the look on her face when she took that first bite was absolutely PRICELESS!!! One thing I can say for her, she is such a good eater. . .she has never refused to eat anything when she is here!!!

I am feeling pretty good about the holidays at this point too, I have all but 1 gift wrapped for the grandkids and it is so big I can't carry it so that one is going to my husband to do. On Wednesday once we get over this upcoming storm system, I am going to go to the state capitol and do the shopping for the adults on the list. . .that is mainly gift cards. So after Wednesday I should be done. The Christmas gathering with the inlaws is Sunday. . .I used to look forward to those, but anymore I dread that gathering. We don't have our Christmas until New Years Eve this year because of work and travel plans. . .and we don't have a traditional Christmas meal either. . .by that time, everyone is pretty much tired of turkey or ham, so we have Junk Food Day. . .I will make Italian Beef or Carnitas then add a variety of dips and other finger foods. People can eat what they want when they want. . .it seems to be a big hit each year!!! Wonder if my daughter will bring homemade tamales. . .love those things but just can't make them as well as she does!!!

Anyway, while my husband was busy with his Pancake and Sausage Breakfast, I have been scrapping. . .I can finally sit at the computer for more than 10 minutes at a time since that silly flu. . .I think I am up to about 20 minutes before I get tired now :-) Anyway, sit back and take a look. . . Fun Friday

Today is the day!!! My goals for today are lofty. . .I plan on getting the Christmas cards ready to be mailed!!! And after that I am moving on to wrapping Christmas gifts!!! My husband it taking the day off to get ready for his Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at church tomorrow and I'm sure there will be some little tasks that I will be assigned. He is such a "planner". . .he stresses, but I think he enjoys it too. Next weekend we have Christmas at my MIL's house. . .I am not in charge of that one and have been told that I am not to be the "Olivia Pope" of the gathering. . .it usually falls to me to be the "fixer" when things to wrong as they ALWAYS do when my sister-in-laws enter the kitchen!!! I have had this nasty flu and the cough and tiredness is still hanging around so he told me to take it easy this year!!! I have to take 2 pans of hashbrown casserole and since I think kids need vegetables, I'm going to take some corn too. There always seems to be a LOT of desserts and very little on the veggie side so that should balance it out. Neither of my girls will be going to the festivities. . .one will be traveling and the other has a long drive to attend. . .plus her little girl would miss Sunday School just to make it down.

I have been scrapping silently on the side while I try to get over this flu and I have a nice little stash to share with you today so here goes.
