Wasn't there a song by that name back in maybe the '60s? It is indeed Monday and I made it through the birthday celebration with the kiddos!!! Oh my goodness, it was SSSSOOOO much fun!!! Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!!! The grandkids were just over the moon to surprise Grandpa!!! That by itself was totally worth it!!!
I did spend a good bit of time recovering yesterday, but last night, I couldn't sleep for ANYTHING!!! So you get to see the products of THAT!!! Hope tonight is better!!!

Beautiful Day
Well, the birthday party yesterday was certainly a surprise to the birthday boy!!! Suddenly all things that have happened in the past month were explained. The constant questions about what his plans were for this weekend, the questions about Friday. . .I know I have seemed like I have been nagging a LOT the past month, but it was all for that party!!! He was so surprised when everyone came up to the back door. . .when he opened it, all the grandkids yelled "SURPRISE"!!! It was absolutely priceless!!! The weather cooperated and we were able to cook out. I had also made a crock pot of carnitas and a crock pot of Italian beef. . .those came in handy when it started raining in the afternoon. We have meat and salads left for today so today is a cook-free day for me!!! Tomorrow is his actual birthday and he will give blood after work. . .I hope to be able to take him to dinner after that.
Now that the party is over, I think I can concentrate a bit more on my scrapping. I feel like I have neglected it for a while now but have all sorts of ideas that I want to work on!!! I did do one page this morning in the quiet hours before folks got up.

Bad Day - Move On
Do you ever have one of those days when it just doesn't pay to even get out of bed??? I had one of those days yesterday. Still trying to put the finishing touches on this surprise party for my dh and feeling a bit stressed as it is. Did most of my laundry yesterday, but there is indeed a load of towels in the dryer that have to be folded. . .I NEVER leave clothes in the dryer so I'll need to address that today. Over the past couple of weeks, I've been getting food that could be frozen for the party. Imagine my surprise when I went out to the garage yesterday and found the freezer door OPENED!!! Lost everything in the freezer then had to go out and pick up the burgers for the cookout that is more than likely going to be rained out tomorrow. . .well, I'll just make some pork and Italian beef just in case!!! Then, as I'm coming back from the grocery store, I was behind a pick-up truck that had decking loaded in it. I'm no construction type, but I'm pretty sure those boards should have been secured in the back of the truck. Wonder at what point that occurred to the driver??? When the boards came flying out the back of his pickup, I was able to swerve and avoid any contact. . .however, the policeman who was following me wasn't so lucky!!! Then, my kitty has not moved from her spot since yesterday morning. . .she hasn't eaten, don't think she has been to the litter box. I'm starting to get pretty sad. . .she has been with me close to 15 years and is such a good companion!!!

Long Week!!!
This has been one of those trying weeks. I am planning a surprise for my dh's upcoming birthday this coming weekend. Trying to plan a surprise for another person in the house is no small feat!!! I have been planning for a while now. . .subtly cleaning the house, planning the food when he is asleep and thought I had everything well in hand. Then here we are, the last few days before the "big event" and all of my planning seems to have gone out the window!!! It started on Sunday when my dh got a phone call from the mechanic working on his mower. After nearly 20 years, the mechanic recommended not putting any more money into the unit. So, Sunday we went mower shopping. On Monday, we made the final decision and purchased the mower we chose. Now, that should have been a fairly easy task. . .it took 3 sales people to try to figure out how to do that and in the end, two computer programmers (my dh and myself) were the secret to finding the pages they needed to write down the information for the ticket. THEN, we had to go out of town for a visitation. That in and of itself was a strange situation. My husband and myself are pretty social people, so we can ALWAYS find somebody to talk to. There are a couple of aunts on my husband's side that I particularly enjoy spending time with. So I go talk to them. My dh's family arrives and they all sit together and never interact with anyone. Today, we have to go out of town for the funeral so we won't get home until mid to late afternoon. Then tomorrow, I have to try to get everything done in 1 day that I had planned on doing in 3 days. Now, my plans for Friday were to make all the food - hide the salads and make up an excuse for the crockpot of meat. Yesterday, my dh told me he MIGHT take a day of vacation on Friday!!! NOW what am I gonna do??? Geeze, he is NOT making this surprise party easy!!!
Not to mention I had my second run-in with a mosquito on Sunday and have been having an allergic reaction to the bites. One bite has caused my entire foot to swell so badly. The next mosquito bite will be the worse, so I am avoiding the outdoors at the moment!!!

Tiring Thursday
Today is the dreaded laundry day. . .but I am making serious progress on that front!!! My last load of laundry is in the washer as I type. . .but I have one load that is being slow to dry!!!
Not long after that first load of laundry went in, the phone rang. . .daughter #2 has pink eye. Got off the phone with her and the phone rings again. . .now I hardly ever get more than 1 phone call a day. This time is was my MIL and that can never be good. Sure enough, my dh's uncle who turned 99 last year passed away this morning. This is my dh's second uncle in just under a month to pass away. When I saw this uncle at the funeral last month, he was still sharp as a tack, but seemed more feeble than before. This is the last of "the brothers" and the end of that generation.
My accomplishment this week. . .I finally have my desk the way I like it!!! It only took about 15 years!!! My desk had a pull-out keyboard and I have always hated that thing. My legs just didn't fit underneath comfortably the way I sit. As I was doing some cleaning a couple of months ago, I saw a board that suddenly came to mind on Monday!!! Had my husband locate it and after some reengineering, it now sits on my desk with my dual monitors elevated. I can now put the keyboard on the desk along with the mouse AND Wacom tablet!!! I have removed the pull-out keyboard and I am able to sit comfortably at my desk!!! I have been having some problems with my legs lately and it seems like this is alleviating some of the joint pain I have been having!!! Woo-Hoo!!!
Since I am able to sit here longer, I have been on a scrapping frenzy!!! So here goes!!!
First up, a couple of pages using a kit that has a decidedly nautical theme, but I love the challenge of having a kit transcend it's intended purpose.

More Of It Monday
It is another Monday. . .had a great weekend with a spunky little 4-year old granddaughter. She got Grandpa to watch Frozen and explained every single thing to him. At one point he asked if it was just about over and she replied "Grandpa, there is one more song". . .what an impact that movie has made!!!
And can I just rant about one little tiny thing? What's up with this world? My niece graduated from college and they were having a party for her. We never received an invitation from either our niece or my brother-in-law. Instead, we got a text from another of my dh's siblings about the party with a date and time (no venue information) and the hotel where we should make a reservation. My sister-in-law went and took her daughter and grandkids. . .my girls (the graduate's cousins) were not invited. I guess I figure if you can't send me an invitation directly in one form or another, you really don't want me there. I did send a graduation gift. . .we will see if a thank you is forthcoming!!! Sometimes I think social media has gotten completely out of hand. . as I sit here writing on my blog!!!

Start This Again :-)
Well, let's start another week!!! And goodness is it a busy one!!! Get to spend time with a granddaughter, then a day of errands, prep for a local 4th of July celebration on the 3rd and then the 4th of July and NASCAR racing at Daytona!!! My reward for getting through the week are those NASCAR races. There's something about sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn watching a race!!! A few years ago my dh took me to a track and I have to tell you I was taken in by the smells and sounds of cars racing. I love watching Daytona and Talladega - what's not to love about those super speedways. I love watching those races on TV because I think if I were there I would have a tough time keeping track of what was going on!!! Give me my TV any day!!!
